  Slovak Queer Films at the Beast International Film Festival
With its sixth edition, Beast International Film Festival (27 September – 1 October 2023) returns to the big screens of Porto with a selection primarily aimed at films that have Eastern Europe as its backdrop. This year, Slovakia is well represented by a selection of four short films by the Slovak Queer Film Festival, celebrating its 16th edition in 2023.
  Twenty Slovak films at Finále Plzeň
Slovak cinema leaves a strong mark at 36th edition of Finále Plzeň Film Festival (22 – 27 September 2023). The festival will screen 20 Slovak films, half of which are up for the awards.
  IFF Cinematik with multiple premieres as well as Viktor Kubal classics
18th edition of International Film Festival Cinematik (September 12 – 17, 2023) brings more than two dozens of Slovak films including awarded films such as Photophobia or Stepne.
  Andrej Kolenčík is the Slovak representative in the Producers LINK programme
Young Horizons Industry and Cinekid for Professionals welcome seventeen European producers selected for the third edition of Producers LINK. The programme is designed to stimulate the production of top-quality children’s content and pan-European co-productions, providing crucial follow-up both during and after these two leading autumn young audience events. Slovak director and producer Andrej Kolenčík is among this year’s participants.
  Toronto IFF presents Slovak co-production films Solitude and Electra
The prestigious Toronto International Film Festival (7 - 17 September 2023) will present two Slovak co-production films. In the TIFF Discovery section, the feature film Solitude (dir. Ninna Pálmadóttir) will have its world premiere, while Electra (dir. Daria Kashcheeva) will be screened in the Short Cuts section.
  Ukrainian Cinema Week in Bratislava and Košice
On the occasion of the Ukrainian Culture Month in Slovakia, a film showcase titled Ukrainian Cinema Week will take place in early September in two Slovak cities. It will offer a selection of films primarily focusing on the Russia-Ukraine conflict, many of which have received awards at international festivals.
  Two Slovak films to premiere in Venice 2023
The 80th edition of the Venice International Film Festival (30 August – 9 September 2023) will present the world premiere of Gábor Reisz’s Explanation for Everything in the Orizzonti competition. In addition, the Slovak film Photophobia, directed by Ivan Ostrochovský and Pavol Pekarčík, will premiere in the independent sidebar Giornate degli Autori.
  25 Slovak Titles at the Summer Film School Uherské Hradište 2023
The Slovak representation at the 49th edition of the Summer Film School Uherské Hradište (28 July – 3 August 2023) will be even richer than usually. Seventeen Slovak feature films, four short student films, and four films by Miloslav Luther, who is this year’s guest of the LFŠ, will be screened.
  Stepne world premieres in Locarno
The 76th Locarno Film Festival (2 - 12 August 2023) will present a minority Slovak co-production (kerekesfilm) in its programme. A film Stepne will world premiere in the Concorso Internazionale section.
  Slovak Cinema at 57th Karlovy Vary
Slovak cinema will have a strong representation at this year's 57th Karlovy Vary IFF (June 30 – July 8). The official programme features 12 Slovak films and five Slovak projects will be presented within industry days.
